This talk provides an excellent opportunity for teachers and anyone else interested to familiarise themselves with wood supply issues within Victoria, ( current and into the future), and how this relates to the National picture. Judy will present findings from her latest research.
1995………"There are actually two wood product industries: a low investment, low value added industry with shrinking employment based on native forests, and a big investment, world class, high value added , job growth industry based on plantations."………

Judy is the author of the collective report to Australia's State Conservation Councils, "Australia's Plantations - Industry, Employment, Environment", released in 1995, using Commonwealth funding assistance.]. This report first highlighted the fact that we didn't need to destroy our native forests to provide our timber / wood fiber needs. For Key findings of the report turn to Forest Plantation Report web-page on the Teachers for Forests website or click here.
