Speakers have been made available to schools in the lead up to, and after, World Environment Day in June 2004 and will continue in 2005 and 2006. Make your bookings now! To be assured of a suitable time for the new year.

Victorias' Old Growth Forests - What remains of our Ancient Forests? What is an Old Growth Forest?-How long do they take to Grow?

Why is Tasmania chipping its Rainforests? ( elsewhere in Australia they are protected - at least in law, if not always in practice )- What can the Federal Government do to help?

How are we helping to save rare animals and plants from extinction? Which animals need the most help? How Old Trees provide habitat for wildlife- How much land ( hectares ) do endangered wildlife need?

Victoria's Water Catchments - How does Clearfell Logging of our water catchments affect our water supply?

Water -How we are wasting it in our Forests- (Plant Physiology; esp. suitable for classes that can interpret Graphs- Middle Secondary up.)

What process created the Regional Forest Agreements - Are they working ?

Activity following Talk

The tree murals (above) have been decorated with "Leaves of Hope" with messages from students about saving Forests from Woodchips. The Murals were on display at a Rally for World Environment Day at Federation Square as a "Forest of Hope" and will later tour the Country.

Students and teachers can obtain the Tree Murals and peel-off "Leaves of Hope" from The Wilderness Society; or make their own. There are threatened forests all through Victoria as well, so even after the federal election there will continue to be major focus on Old Growth forests and incidnetal threats to rainforest in Victoria as well as Tasmania.
