Quick Background

VEAC into Goolengook - Goolengook Old Growth Study. - The Minister for Environment and Conservation announced on 30 October 2002 that the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council is to investigate East Gippsland's Goolengook old growth forests The Minister released proposed terms of reference, seeking public comment within 28 days before requesting VEAC to carry out the investigation. The Minister has not yet forwarded terms of reference to VEAC. Submissions on the terms of reference closed on Wednesday 4 December 2002

 

VEAC Angahook -Otway Investigation - The Victorian Environmental Assessment Council (VEAC) will now submit its
Final Report of its Angahook-Otway Investigation to the Minister for the Environment on 24 November 2004. VEAC's Draft Proposals Paper received 715 submissions The great number of submissions and the emergence of many detailed issues led the VEAC to seek a short extension ( from Sept 3-2004 ) - to enable it to do justice to the wide ranging contributions received from the community. The Final Report is required to be made available to the public within seven days of it being submitted to the Minister. Submitters (including our Ed) will notified when it is released.

 

Green Paper on Water - "Securing our Water's Future" - Sets out 80 key proposals for community government and industry discussion. Submissions closed Oct 2003 and the response - The Govt. "White Paper on Water Reform -setting out the preferred actions of Govt. -includes statements about direction for the community and industry also - was tabled mid 2004. Over 660 submissions made to the Green paper are still available on-line , along with the original Green paper and the response to those submissions -The Govts White Paper.
