Who are Teachers for Forests? |
Statement of Intention Following the formation of "Lawyers for Forests" and "Doctors for Forests", other professional groups such as Vets and Teachers have felt a need to strike a claim in the forest debate. Teachers for Forests have formed in the interest of better information about the state of our environmental assets, and the threats to them, and better education about how to protect and manage remnant ecosystems (especially in native forests). We are also concerned with the related issues surrounding how to ensure sustainable river flows, (including intermittent surface flows); protecting artesian basins and other ground water from depletion and salinity effects; and with the sustainability of forest resources, and the need to "practice what we preach" by demonstrating effective re-cycling systems in schools for both energy and material resources such as paper.
